I'm constantly on the lookout for good places to take photos. I know Capital Park and Land Park are the two largest parks around here and they are both great places to take pictures, but there has to be a lot more great places in the area. I'm just beginning to explore more.

The day before Easter, I met up with my brother and sister-in-law in order to photograph their kids. I have been frantically taking pictures in order to finish the porfolio needed for my class. (Which is another reason I've neglected the blog a little lately!!! Been so busy!!!) One of the assignments I had left was to do the same subject in a back-lit situation, a front-lit situation, and a side-lit situation. Well of couse the day I met them out there, it was overcast and the sun was feeling a bit shy. So after attempting to use my external flash to create my lighting, we finally just had fun taking some natural light pictures and I LOVED this location! I definitely want to go back and do more pictures here. The gorgeous green grass and the tall oak trees and the little hills that roll through the park. Great photographic backdrop for some group pictures!!!

Carrie, Chris, and Ruby!

Saturday afternoon I met up with Carrie, Chris, and Ruby to take some pictures. Carrie and Chris wanted engagement pictures since they are getting married in September! Congratulations! Carrie also wanted some pictures with Ruby, her daughter. We wandered around Capital Park and enjoyed the gorgeous weather. Here's a few sneak peeks! I can't wait to share the rest of the gallery with Carrie and Chris very soon!!!

For the past week, I've been working on some pictures of Joshua that were taken last Saturday! He's so adorable!!!! It's been a busy week so unfortunately I'm not done YET, but hopefully I will be in the next day or two! But here's a teaser of what was taken that day!

Some dog Park Fun!

Yesterday, I spent a little time at the dog park so I figured I'd take some pictures of the dogs there. My dog was having a blast meeting all the dogs that came in, while I was having a great time seeing all the variety of dogs and seeing how they each have much different personalities. I love dogs. :)

So here's a little cutie that ran up to me and her owner told me how much she LOVES to have her picture taken. At home, when a camera comes out, she'll run grab a toy and pose! How awesome is that! I wish my dogs were like that! Mine usually run from the camera! LOL... so here's a picture of Jasmine. With a super soft coat, and those gorgeous green eyes, she's a beautiful dog!

Ryan + Anna | Wedding Reception

Sunday night I was excited to be the photographer at Ryan and Anna's wedding dinner reception at the Fortune House Seafood restaurant in Sacramento, CA! They had half the restaurant with a variety of interesting dishes being served and the entire night was filled with friends, family, and lots of love! Here's a few sneak peeks from the evening!

Aubrie is always so photogenic so of course I took her picture when I was down there last weekend. Here was my personal favorite. :) We tried to take away her "bink" but that made her quite unhappy... lol... so this just shows her at 22 months - the way she is... with bink and sippy cup. :)

Sacramento Photographer | New Photo Ad!

So in an effort to advertise a little more, I've been working on a collage to use when posting ads on sites such as craigslist.

I'd love to hear your comments. It may evolve over time, as I find other pictures I want to use to represent myself. I'd really like to take more pet photos and more family photos!

So here's the deal! Until the end of April of 2011, I will not charge any session or sitting fees! There's no risk to you about spending money and worrying if you'll like the photos. I'm pretty sure you will like them though. :) I will take my time to get the photos you want.

You can change outfits as many times as you want and we can take as much time as you need. (Ok, maybe I'll impose like a 4 hour maximum to keep it reasonable!) I'll keep shooting as long as there are ideas of things to try! I'll take the photos home, and edit most of them. (I won't let you see anything that's blurry, or just plain bad!) I may even take my favorite few and give them a few extra special artistic touches. :) Then I will upload them to my zenfolio site and send you a link and the password. Then you are free to take a peek and see if you want any or all of them!

If you do decide you want them, I will sell either prints (prices will be listed online while you view them) or I will sell you the full-resolution digital file. Each file will be $10. If you buy 10 or more, I'll unlock all the files for you to download for $100. If you prefer a CD of your pictures, an additional $5 fee will be required to cover the cost and time of making your CD. :)

MCP's Project 52

I like to follow a lot of photographer's blogs for inspiration. It not only helps me learn new things, but it also inspires me to take better pictures and sometimes to see the world in a whole new way. One of the blogs I follow is MCP Photography. Their recent blog post challenged people to participate in "Project 52".

The first week's theme was "things around the house." Well here's one of the little creatures running around my house, during one of her many relaxing moments.

A friend today showed me an awesome video by FStoppers. It's about using the camera you have and stop whining about its quality or claiming you need a better camera to take better pictures. A part of that really hits home with me because I'm definitely a techy gear loving type person! It's a good reminder. Granted, having nicer equipment does give you more options and makes those pictures easier to capture when you can't control your environment, but that's another story. :) So I thought I'd share this video... it's about 10 minutes long but it's fun. Showing how you can take some pretty awesome photos - even with an IPhone. (Although I'm not thrilled with him making fun of Olympus in the beginning because I happen to like Olympus!)

Jen + Bobby | Wedding Photography

I recently had the honor of photographing Jen and Bobby's wedding in beautiful Lake Tahoe. It was gorgeous! The weather was warm (in the 80's!) and the sun was bright. The wedding and the reception was at the Edgewood golf course. The South Room of the clubhouse overlooks Lake Tahoe and across the lake you could still see the snow on Mt. Tallac. It was a picture perfect day so thanks Jen and Bobby for letting me capture it for you! Here's your sneak peek!

Welcome to the *NEW* Blog! I've decided it's time to split up my blog between my personal rants and my photography. So this blog is dedicated to all things photography related. :)

Thirdly, I'd like to announce the start of a new webpage! I've always wanted my own website and a friend has pointed out a free one I can try out.
